Christmas Eve, Day & Day After

Wow, so much excitement over the holiday.

For starters, how about that snow??

We couldn't have asked for a better way to start the Holiday. I think the last white Christmas in Texas was like 80 years ago, so clearly I missed it. We did have to forego candlelight service at church, which mom was not too happy about, but somehow we did survive. :) We had snacks, and tasty beverages (helped me get over missing church real fast), watched a movie, played some cards and called it a night. My mom thought it would be a great idea to put the ham in the oven at midnight and cook it all night. In theory it was perfect. That is until about 4:00am when we all started smelling it cooking and pretty much wanted to get up and eat right then.

Got our stockings, opened presents, had a nice breakfast and then started getting ready for our company. I decided this year to be quite domestic and make homemade desserts. So here are my pineapple upsidedown cake and chocolate raspberry torte. Yes, they were delicious!

Had a lovely day with friends and family. Went home pretty late then I met up with mom and dad this morning for breakfast at Cracker Barrel. We did some Christmas shopping for next year to get a jump on things and had a yummy breakfast too. Breakfast and shopping is almost as good as dinner and a show. :)

Then we had a nice time visiting with Brandon's dad and step-mom. Brandon and his dad began a relationship in October after not having one for 17 years. So far so good. They are making an effort, and I couldn't have asked for a better step-mom for B. She is the way coolest ever and has been really accepting of this whole thing. This was the first time for them to meet my parents, but all went well and I am sure Brandon was pleased to have all the most special people to him in one room.

Here are a couple more pics of B to wrap up this blog. He got some new clothes for Christmas that he really liked and wanted to dress up for us. I just think he looks so handsome! Thanks for checking out my blog. Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas!

Alright Sweetie I know for sure that I am not 80 years old. It snowed Christmas of 1984. I was living with you at the time. It snowed the last day of school before Winter Break. And it snowed Christmas Eve. It was one of the best Christmas's ever. Everything looked pretty and white. While we were on break the roads also iced over. We used the boxes from christmas presents that were mailed to us and Uncle Jimmy's scarf that he made for your mom. Then we hiked up Fay and Beauford's driveway and attatched the scarf to their garage door and slid down their driveway. We would pull ourselves back up with your mom's scarf. She was not happy about that...it was a fun day for us though :)

Looks like you had a wonderful Christmas, ahh snow for the big day!
That's great that Brandon and his dad are establishing a relationship. I can't imagine that would be easy and the courage and patience it takes is unimaginable.
I hope you got some time for some R & R. Happy 2010!
